Peter Einersen, MD, FACS is a board-certified general surgeon who offers extensive expertise in advanced GI, bariatric and minimally-invasive surgery. Dr. Einersen is an accomplished leader in the treatment of obesity and has been among the busiest bariatric surgeons in the country over the past several years. 

Dr. Einersen earned his medical degree from Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed his General Surgery Residency at the University of Colorado—Denver, followed by a Minimally-Invasive Surgery Fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.

Upon completion of his training, Dr. Einersen joined the faculty of NYU Langone Health and was appointed Director of Robotic Surgery at Bellevue Hospital. Among the many accomplishments of his tenure, Dr. Einersen is most proud of helping thousands of underserved New Yorkers achieve better health through weight loss.

A native New Yorker, Dr. Einersen credits the vibrant energy and diversity of the city in shaping his individual-centered approach to care. In 2024, he founded Gallery Bariatrics, recognizing the opportunity for a more personalized alternative to larger, “one-size-fits-all” bariatric surgery centers.

Dr. Einersen looks forward to hearing each patient’s unique story and helping them to establish achievable and sustainable goals. For those having surgery, Dr. Einersen performs his procedures at nearby Mount Sinai Hospital — where he also serves on the surgical faculty.
